MY CURRENT FAVS

Sara Gold Orchid

Since moving, I have been careful about over spending. Our couch is yet to come for a few more weeks and then after that, we’ll need to buy a few more items to furnish our flat so it's best to spend wisely. Every now and then though I do like to splurge on items that make me happy or brighten my day.

In the town where I live, buying anything locally can be a bit pricey, but it's worth it considering the quality you get. I've learned the importance of supporting local businesses so that not only the area thrives, but so do the businesses that bring people joy. I used to do most of my shopping online, and at times I do if I know I can't find that item in my area, but I've come to appreciate the tiny shops here that have such unique items.

Here are some of my current favorites that I want to share with you all!

1. Sara Gold Orchid

The first item is this beautiful orchid from CVS, which isn't from one of the local shops, but it was one of the few stores in the area that had such a plant. To honor my mom's passing after one year, I decided to buy her a special plant and among the ones CVS had, I saw this orchid and fell in love with it's gradient colors.

I've never owned an orchid before but I do know you can clone the same plant many times before you exhaust it. So I've been learning how to do just that so when the time comes, I can continue growing the same plant - because I truly love it's colors.  I've also been careful about watering it too since they're very sensitive. The first time I watered it, the leaves turned yellow on me from lack of aeration, so I let the roots air out for a day and the leaves went back to normal.

2. Jigot face masks from Korea

The second item are these face masks that I bought from a Korean store. It was the cutest store ever with all kinds of items from Korea and since they had a special for their face masks, I decided to try them out. Now, I've tried face masks before that I bought online that claimed to be from Korea, but the ones I bought in the store seemed to be genuine

The masks come with lots of juice!

This mask is not the first that I've used, but the second, and I noticed how much juice there was in each pack! The masks I've used before in the past all dried out on me after 10 minutes of using, but not these ones. They had so much juice in them that I ended up saving them for when I would wash my face the next day.

They're really effective too. After having one on for just about 10 minutes, my face was brighter, softer, and looked super hydrated. I try to pamper my face every week due to the air pollution and how dry my face gets, so these masks were a great find for me.

3. Dr. Teal's body lotion

I love this lotion! I find many body lotion products to be either too thick or too strong when it comes to their perfume smell. Not this one! It was a great price, just around $8, and it smells amazing! I love anything with lavender in it, but it has to smell like lavender oils - not a lab made smell!

This lotion rubs in very easily and since I have sensitive skin, this product was very light and left my skin hydrated until the next day. Did I mention how great it smells? They did have a chamomile one which I will try when I use up all of this one. I love putting this lotion on after I get out of the shower! Not to mention it's cruelty and parabens free!

4. The Four Elements By Woolzies

To spice up our space, I think it's nice to come home to a signature smell that reminds you that your space is uniquely yours. We bought a diffuser that has a felt pad inside of it that you can apply your favorite essential oil to it. It then blows warm air onto the felt pad where it slowly releases into the air. It came with lavender essential oil - which I love of course - but we also bought this oil set from The Four Elements by Woolzies.

It comes with four bottles of mixed oils; fire, water, earth, and air. Each one has it's own unique smell that relates to an element and even includes a brief description of each element's properties. My personal favorite is water which is associated with emotions and intuition; it smells of chamomile, jasmine, mint, and other oils. I. Love. It! It really makes our flat smell lovely but it's not too over powering. It's just right, which is exactly what we wanted.

5. Eggless Chocolate Chip Cookies w/ Walnuts

If there was one snack out there that I'd pick to have with me forever, I'd pick chocolate chip cookies. I'm not sure what it is about them, but I truly enjoy the taste of molasses and chocolate. I haven't baked chocolate chip cookies since I first moved, so I decided I would give these a go. The thing is, I didn't have any eggs left because I used the last eggs for French toast, so I looked up a recipe for eggless chocolate chip cookies, and they're the best!

I can't tell you how many recipes I've tried for cookies, but this one by far hits home run. It has an equal amount of brown sugar and white sugar, so the taste is great. It's not too sweet and the touch of salt can be tasted through each bite. I made the mistake of not putting my batter in the fridge after preparing so they came out a bit thin, but either way, they still taste amazing. I added walnuts to the recipe because I love the combination - Dimitar doesn't like walnuts but even he enjoyed them.

Nothing for me brings an evening together like home baked goodies and these were amazing. If you want to try them out, I've linked the recipe for you to try!

Until next time! xoxo - Sarah
