GOALS FOR 2021

I love setting goals for myself every year. I know some people may cringe to the idea of working past their own comfort zone - and I used to be the same way - until I got past one big challenge, which was detoxing for a whole month straight - and when I accomplished that, I felt I could achieve anything else if I pushed myself enough. Getting my own apartment was the biggest goal for me for the longest time, but now that I've achieved that, I want to work on my art goals now.

Everyone knows that my goal is to become a full-time artist. Yes. 100%. It's taken me some time to realize this dream of mine but the moment it hit me that I wanted to dedicate all of my time to creating every day and sharing it with the world, is when I realized I had some hard work to do. Like, a lot of work!

So that's what I've been doing for these past few years and it all started with my YouTube channel. Being a self-taught artist, I knew if I wanted to be a full-time artist, I needed to work on my skills which meant I had to dedicate a lot of my time to creating and  learning. I had so much to learn that I often doubted myself along the way - but I kept going because in the end, creating is what I love doing the most so the whole process was really fun.

Every year I try to aim towards a goal that helps me get closer to my main one. Last year I worked on marketing myself through social media and developing a consistent schedule for creating art and I kept up with it for the most part. This year, I want to work on improving my sales and possibly hiring a content manager to help me reach more people. I've always done my advertising on my own but it may be slowing me down since there's so much more to it than I thought.

I love the art that I create and I know those who come across my art do too, but I think with the right managing, I can achieve my goals faster. Many people think to be an artist these days, means sacrificing so much to the point where it's not even worth it and I absolutely disagree with this. Today, it's easier than ever to start a business of your own, just as long as you have the right idea, the right support, and of course, decent marketing.

To start my goals off right this year, I want to invest in better equipment so I can print more products right from my desk. I have a digital art pad but I can only use it from my computer so it'd be nice to get a new art pad that I could have with me as I travel. From there, I want to find a good marketing agent to help me revise my content both on my YouTube channel and my other platforms so that I can see what I need to work on to improve my reach and sales. After that, it's all about branding and consistency...at least I hope so, but you never know!

I like to believe that no matter what you want to do in your life, if you have the passion and it's all you think about, life will help you find a way to make it come true. As long as you stay determined and fearless, you can make your dreams come true. Yes, hard work is part of it, but it wont be so hard if you love what you do, right?

Until next time! xoxo - Sarah
